Remember when you turned thirteen and all of a sudden you couldn’t stop growing? Your ankles peered awkwardly out from the bottom of your pants and your wrists got cold peeking out from the sleeves of that middle school hoodie. Well, that’s kind of what 2017 has looked like at Expensify, only less awkward and more exciting! We’re in the midst of a growth spurt, and we’re thrilled to share some numbers from the first half of the year.

Total Users Worldwide: Five Million
Since the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2017, one million new people have signed up for Expensify. This brings the total number of people SmartScanning receipts past five million ‒ that’s roughly the same number of people who live in Costa Rica, Norway, or Ireland!

Double Trouble
It’s only August and we already have twice as many customers as we had at the beginning of the year, as well as twice as many accountants in the ExpensifyApproved! Partnership Program. That means twice as many reasons to work hard every day, and twice as much motivation to keep enhancing our product.

#OneTeamOneDream
It’s not just our customer base that’s growing ‒ we’ve been hiring to keep up, and now have over 120 employees distributed across three continents. Check out we.are.expensify.com/jobs if you’re interested in becoming the next member of our team!

For those of you who have been using Expensify for a while, thanks for contributing to this growth by sharing Expensify with your friends, family, and co-workers! For those of you who are new, welcome! Reach out to help@expensify.com anytime you have questions, or check out the answers from Expensify veterans on our new Community Forum. Now who wants to join us in celebrating with s’mores over a big fire of burning receipts?
