EXPENSIFY DEFENDS AND STRENGTHENS ITS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PORTFOLIO
San Francisco, CA – December 14th, 2015
Expensify and Nexonia have reached an amicable resolution of their legal dispute concerning Nexonia’s use of Expensify’s SmartScan mark. Expensify appreciates Nexonia’s immediate steps to remove Expensify’s term SmartScan from its website and products and accepts that Nexonia was unaware of Expensify’s trademark for it. Nexonia apologizes for their use of the term and applauds Expensify for its innovation. Nexonia agrees that Expensify has prior use of this trademark, and that in Nexonia’s opinion the SmartScan Mark has acquired distinctiveness.
Furthermore, Expensify and Nexonia have agreed to a license of Expensify’s current and future patents covering receipt scanning technologies.
Both companies look forward to delivering future innovations in expense management, a place they’re both excited and passionate about.
