Here at Expensify, we’re always dreaming of ways to make expense reports more lovable, and that also means making receipts less hateable. Today, we’re thrilled to launch our first batch of receipt integrations – making sure you never forget your receipts again! We’ve partnered with Uber, HotelTonight, Revel Systems, Fujitsu ScanSnap, SaneBox, and more to import receipts directly from them, so we can automatically create an expense report without you even having to open our app. Continue Reading…

Nobody likes to talk about firing. It’s not something to celebrate: if you need to fire someone it means you screwed up. Either you hired the wrong person, or — more common — you hired the right person, but failed to enable their success. Either way, the blame falls on the company (not the individual), so it’s no surprise that companies tend to avoid talking about their failures.
But despite that discomfort, firing is an important topic because in the long run, careful application of firing is actually more important than hiring. To understand why, consider this simple chart:
We spoke to dozens of customers, and today we’re delighted to launch Per Diem functionality in Expensify.

The Problem
Whether intentional, or not, duplicate expenses are an issue. Duplicate expenses create more work for both the submitter and the approver. They are a core task in auditing to be sought out and destroyed!
The Solution
I’ve been trying to wrap my head around Common Table Expressions for a while, and all the tutorials I’ve read started out with “simple” examples that were way too advanced for me to follow. Here’s my attempt to write a tutorial that starts as simple as possible.

Howdy from Al and the Success Coaches! I want to take this time to share our newest feature, Automatic (yes, AUTOMATIC) Statement Reporting.

Some highlights of this feature include: Continue Reading…
What do you do when you love something so much and want to change the current industry standard?

The founders of Chubbies Shorts. From left to right: Kyle Hency, Rainer Castillo, Preston Rutherford & Tom Montgomery
For us, we had a vision to rid the world of expense reports that suck. For the guys at Chubbies Shorts, they envisioned an alternative, retro glam lifestyle from decades past. Two completely different businesses in every single way, but both ideas were born from a desire to change the status quo. Continue Reading…
If you’ve ever done an expense report on Microsoft Excel, then you probably know how much it sucks. Like bottom-of-the-barrel, I-need-a-drink-to-get-through-this type of suck.

Why? Why do you do this to yourself over and over, time and time again?
- Is it because you’re a contractor who only does expense reports once every few months?
- Is it because you’re a startup of 10 and don’t want to pay to ease your pain?
- Is it because you’re a company of 30 that is not quite ready to scale, so you’ll hold out until you do?
- Is it because you’re actually masochistic and kind of enjoy a monthly dose of pain?
