Now, with more banks!

Zhenya Grinshteyn —  April 8, 2010 — 38 Comments

Our engineers have been working away at increasing the amount of supported banks for importing expenses. Today bears the fruit of their labor as a large addition of supported banks, covering the vast majority of all banks and credit card issuers in the US. For the curious, the full list of supported banks is at the very end of this post. If you’ve had to use OFX/QFX upload or gave up because you couldn’t import your expenses directly, now is the time to connect your bank!

selecting a bank to import expenses from

Search for and select the bank from which to import expenses

Just start typing the name of your bank, and we’ll show you all matching results. Select your bank, and proceed to import your expenses from that account.

We’re still adding more banks and we need people to be part of a beta test. If you have an account with any of the banks below and would like it to be supported, email Nate, our bank maestro, and he’ll work with you to get your expenses imported.

  1.

Are you guys supporting Silicon Valley Bank?

  2.

Unfortunately, we do not yet support Silicon Valley Bank. However, it is up at the top of our list of banks to add along with HSBC. I’ll let you know when we’ve added it.

  3.

Hello. I have just started our new company on Expensify and was wondering if there is support for Georgia Federal Credit Union. Would it be them since they are the card issuer or someone else that services the card? Great app!

  4.

FYI Your product is AWESOME. Mapping is Awesome i love it i never have to leave the site… it took me a while to figure out why some of my receipts were missing but i now figure out that if the E isn’t in the receipt column it isn’t there.. not real clear why not but i get it. I was the one who asked you about bringing in 2 years of expenses.. i figured out how to do it.. I went to Chase and downloaded the QXF and imported that while you are working on your XLS import feature. and i do not even own quicken! and it works great.. might want to post that out there. also i tried to use my MetLife account and can’t find how to do it….

  5.

When will HSBC be supported? I know a lot of people who are waiting for this!

    Hi,

The card issuer is generally the institution whose website you log in to for access to your credit card statement. We currently only support Fort Steward Georgia FCU, and I’ll add for us to look more closely at just Georgia FCU in general. Thanks for your patience on this!

    Best,
    Zhenya

    Hi,

I don’t yet have a definite time frame, but it’s coming! Thanks for your patience!

    Best,
    Zhenya

  8.

I cannot connect my wachovia accounts. It keeps on saying login failed, but I know my login information is correct. Please help.
    Thanks

  9.

How about Canadian banks? There are only a few of them that are the most popular, and that would cover most of the US’s biggest trading partner…

    TD Canada Trust
    MBNA Canada
    Royal Bank
    HSBC
    Bank of Montreal
    CIBC
    Scotiabank

  10.

    Still no Canadian banks?

  11.

    Canadian banks please

    RBC

  12.

Canadian banks as well thank you, there are only a few

  13.

Neither of my BECU accounts are working, I get ‘login failed, please try again’ errors – help!

  14.
Zhenya Grinshteyn October 18, 2011 at 2:36 am

That could be an error on our end. Could you please email Kevin, our banking services engineer, directly at kevin@expensify.com so he can work through your issue? Thanks and I apologize for the inconvenience!

  15.

    Canadian banks please! BMO

  16.

Hi, do you have a time-frame for when SVB will be added?

  17.
Zhenya Grinshteyn December 8, 2011 at 10:37 am

    Hi Lawrence,

At this I can only estimate that the next big batch of banks will be added in the coming year because we have not yet finished all of the development. I apologize for the inconvenience in the mean time!

  18.

Do you have HSBC UK Support yet?

  19.

Thanks for this. It has really been helpful!

  20.
Zhenya Grinshteyn December 13, 2011 at 12:50 pm

    Hi Rich,

We currently don’t have direct connect support for banks outside of the US. This is something we’re working on to improve the app for everyone who uses us in other countries. Sorry for the trouble in the mean time!

  21.

Hi, still not support HSBC yet? I am really wait for it. Thanks.

  22.

Is the app available for td bank accounts in Canada yet?

  23.

Hi Jess – Good news! If all goes according to plan, you won’t have to wait longer than the end of the year for this. I’m happy to update you when we add this specific bank if you’d like!

  24.

any idea when TD Canada Trust might come in?

  25.

Hopefully later this year. In the meantime, we’ve opted to research more on HST/GST/VAT requirements. Let us know if you can help!

  26.

I’m trying to get my Huntington Business Account to work with Expensify, but it keeps reporting back that the export interface must be down – for over a week now. The Huntington Business Accounts require (for login) a company number, user ID, password, and a pin + secure token combination. Would be a correct assumption that you are only supporting personal bank accounts through Huntington and not their Business customers? Thanks for the help.

  27.

Hi Danny – Sorry for the trouble! You’re right that we only support Huntington personal accounts at this time. However, this may be a commercial card, which has a different import process. Can you email me at jason@expensify.com to discuss further? Thanks!

  28.

Do you have a lead time for supporting UK banks – HSBC for example? I see that there was a response last December – just wondering how long you think….. Many thanks

  29.

Hey Simon, thanks for commenting. Please respond to me directly (gknight@expensify.com) and I’ll be glad to clarify any questions you have about HSBC support.

  30.

    BMO Please!

  31.

Hi Fabio – Great to hear! Can you write help@expensify and provide us with the full bank name as well as the URL you use to connect?

  32.

would love support for Teachers Credit Union in Indianapolis area!

  33.

    Hey there,

Email us at help@expensify.com with your bank request and we’ll work to build the connection!

  34.

I guess yoou didn’t get anywhere with the Canadian banks? We’re now at the end of the NEXT year.

  35.

Actually I think we support all the major Canadian banks. The full list is here: http://help.expensify.com/credit_cards Can you take a look? Thanks!

  36.

I really wish the Chase support were better. Not that I blame Expensify. I’m more inclined to believe that Chase is too busy being Chase to actually resolve a customer support issue… But I do have constant issues connecting to a Chase business card (both OFX and regular). Today, I can’t connect to them at all. Even deleting and re-adding the cards doesn’t work. As promising as this idea was, I’m ready to give up. This is one more nail in the coffin of my relationship with Chase, and maybe one day we’ll have a different card, but we can’t just switch banks overnight.

Daniel Holdsworth December 28, 2016 at 5:10 pm

Hi, Seems like this post was from a long time ago and still no support for the big 5 Canadian banks!

    RBC
    TD
    Scotia
    CIBC
    BMO

Help us escape the antiquated Canadian banking system!

  38.
    Natalie O'Connor December 29, 2016 at 1:04 pm

    Hi Daniel,
We are still working vigorously to add as many banks as possible. Please continue importing expenses from a spreadsheet or OFX file. If you’re not sure how to do complete the import, please follow these step-by-step instructions: https://docs.expensify.com/setup-for-submitters/advanced-configuration-for-submitters/importing-credit-cardsbank-transactions-how-to

Thank you for being a valued Expensify customer. As we continue growing the product, you can find all our latest updates on the blog.
